Description:

Gibson's Cave and Summerhill Falls
Though not as fast flowing, or anywhere near as high as it's well known near neighbour High Force, nevertheless, Summerhill Falls loses nothing in it's splendour, especially as it's own erosion over the years has produced "Gibson's Cave" - the grotto or shelf behind the actual waterfall itself that you can walk into, and thus stand behind the falling water.

Given that entrance is FREE, whilst it's near neighbour High Force involves a cost for parking,as well as entry, then this makes Summerhill Falls a must see in my mind.

Park at the car park area the co-ordinates relate to, then follow the path East-North-East past the toilet block to the waterfall (the main waterfall that is, you will pass a single drop waterfall along the way). Walk is about 200-300 metres, over reasonable ground, but does include a set of steps (around 15), and then woodland paths alongside a stream, so pushchairs, prams, and wheelchairs will struggle. But without these, most people or children will be fine.

Toilets exist at the Car Park, and there is a Visitor Centre nearby in a converted Chapel.
