Description:

Ingram Valley and River Breamish
The Ingram Valley and the River Breamish which winds through it, is a real hidden gem of a location, if you have not discovered it before now.

It is a picturesque river valley, situated in North Northumberland, and lends itself to scenic days out in a warm car perhaps in the winter snow (though bear in mind that whilst relatively flat, these are local roads, so don't go in too heavy snow), but of course better yet, on a warm, sunny day, where family picnics are ideal at this location, given the flat grassy sides to the river, where parking is readily available alongside.

The river itself is shallow, and slow, so suitable for children to play in, but please - SAFETY FIRST - always supervise children where water is concerned.

As parking alongside the river bank is usually available, it means push-chairs and wheelchairs etc, should not be prevented from enjoying a great free day out either.

For the more adventurous yet, follow the road to the end of the valley, where it becomes a private track at the farm.

Then park up, and follow the public right of way for two miles (in each direction mind you), to Linhope Spout, a spectacular waterfall that is technically the highest single drop falls in England!
*******************

To find The River Breamish and the Ingram Valley, travel along the A697 in Northumberland, to a point slightly north of Powburn. Follow the local road signposted as Brandon, and continue on.

Then, park up at the co-ordinates listed, for river-bank picnics. Or continue further along the road west over the bridge and through the village of Ingram itself, with pleasant church, for either more of the same riverbank parking and views, or on to the end of the road for the walk to Linhope Spout, as already mentioned!

Whatever you do, don't forget the picnic and the camera though!
